Meanwhile, a 639-foot Great Lakes freighter, the M/V Mark W. Barker, carrying 21,000 tons of salt, got temporarily stranded in the Detroit River near Belle Isle after running aground. With the help of a tugboat and commercial towing, the freighter was successfully freed after several hours.
