Governor Gretchen Whitmer cautioned Michigan residents on Monday about the dangers of starting fires due to the dry weather conditions. Over the weekend, a fire near Grayling consumed 2,400 acres. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources declared the state to be at an extreme risk for wildfires, with the majority of areas classified as "extreme" or "very high" risk according to a U.S. Forest Service fire conditions map.
