Consumers across the US are expressing frustration about tipping practices, with many feeling that tipping requests have gone too far. Some are taking to social media to complain about being asked for tips at drive-thrus and for small purchases like coffee or muffins. With the increasing adoption of digital payment methods, customers are being prompted to leave gratuities at more and more places, sometimes as high as 30%, even in places where tipping was not traditionally expected. The frustration is compounded by the current high inflation rate.
