Judge clears way for Nessel to fight order keeping Line 5 case in federal court

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel can proceed with her efforts to move a suit to shut down Enbridge's Line 5 in the Straits of Mackinac back to state court, according to a federal judge's order on Tuesday. The judge certified her previous ruling, allowing Nessel's office to appeal the case to the Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. Enbridge Energy, meanwhile, stated its confidence in the judge's August decision and accused Nessel's office of "forum shopping."
