Rudyard Township, located in the upper peninsula of Michigan, was recognized as the Snowy Owl capital of Michigan by the Michigan House of Representatives. The county has the Highest count of Snowy owls in the country and in the state. Snowy owls are considered one of the largest, most active and most vocal of all owl species and are protected and honored in Michigan by several conservation organizations. They are also a tourist attraction that draw nature enthusiasits and bird watchers from all over the state.
