WalletHub recently ranked U.S. cities by economic disadvantage. Comparing 182 cities using 28 metrics, including child poverty and homelessness rates, Detroit and Grand Rapids were analyzed. Detroit ranked as the neediest city in America, with high scores in child poverty, overall poverty, food insecurity, and inadequate plumbing.
