Kaczynski was a bright student from Chicago who excelled academically and in extracurricular activities. He graduated high school at 15 and earned his bachelor's degree from Harvard at 20. He then pursued his master's and doctoral degrees in mathematics at U-M but described the experience as the worst years of his life.
