Westland Mall was established in 1965 and was among the first malls to be built in the state. Renowned architects were commissioned to design the mall, which comprised a four-story Hudsons department store, a range of high-end restaurants, and an SS Kresge store. The mall has seen a decline in popularity and occupancy. City administrators have formed a task force to evaluate the possibility of acquiring the property. And are working to determine its costs and potential development.
